INTRODUCTION
Physical Education is
part of a wider process of education. One view of education is that
it is a process that seeks to transmit, evaluate and enrich aspects
of culture. Sports as a cultural form are valued all over the
world. It plays a vital role in everyday life. Sporting activities
can provide a healthy and enjoyable leisure pursuit throughout ones
life, assist in social and community aims, build up civic and
national pride and create an impact on the economy.
Our Philosophy
relates to sport in its widest possible context.
We endeavor to provide
an opportunity for all our students to take part in varied
sporting programme.
We aim to develop their
understanding of the need for a healthy, active lifestyle, to
promote a willingness to participate, an ability to empathize with
others and a love of physical activity that will provide an
enjoyable leisure pursuit in later life. Our programme aims to
equip students with the knowledge, understanding, concepts, values
and attitudes to adopt an active lifestyle. Voluntary and long-term
participation in sports is dependent on individuals feeling
competent and confident enough to participate at their own level.
It is of prime importance that Physical Education is a positive
experience, made accessible, stimulating and enjoyable and that
every student feels valued whatever the standard may be.
