The CSIR sponsored Workshop on Storage and Intelligent Retrieval Techniques for Biological and Big data was conducted to impart knowledge to the participants on various storage technologies, the complexities of managing large volumes of data and to be  an eye opener to the participants on the necessary infrastructure and medium needed to implement the techniques of storage and various methodologies to retrieve the stored data.

The objective of the workshop was to familiarize participants from both IT related fields and Biotechnology with the advanced concepts in Bioinformatics and motivate them toward research and development.

 The workshop was held for a period of two days with its targeted participants who include students, researchers and teaching faculty from IT related disciplines and Industrial Biotechnology from various universities across the country. We had speakers from educational field that includes IIT and NISCAIR and representatives from organizations such as C-DAC and IBM to not only bring an industry perspective but to give us the much needed understanding of how research translates to practical adaptation in the real world.

 The workshop started with the inaugural function and Dr.M.Natrajan from NISCAIR was the chief Guest for the function which was followed by 3 technical sessions on 17th August and 3 more session on 18th August.

The participants gained abundant knowledge on storing data in different systems and environments. The speakers presented their topic with eloquence and the participants were engrossed by the sessions.
