About the workshop
Drug discovery process is a critical issue in the pharmaceutical
industry since it is a time consuming and expensive process, yet
new drugs are required to meet the unmet needs of several
disease indications. Every year a number of new chemical
entities and potential targets of disease are being reported
increasingly, but very few drugs are coming to market due to
high cost involved in obtaining lead molecules and preclinical
regulatory requirements.
Molecular Modeling and in silico Drug Designing techniques have
created tremendous opportunities in assisting researchers in the
designing of novel therapeutic agents. State-of-the-Art
Bioinformatics approach helps in understanding molecular
properties and the specific behavior of drug-receptor
interactions at the molecular level.
This workshop is aimed at giving hands-on-training on homology
modeling of protein structures, molecular docking of protein-ligand
complexes using bioinformatics tools and softwares.
