Workshop Background

Geospatial Technologies play an important role towards achieving the national goals of food, water, environment and energy security, sustainable development, disaster management for effective decision making. Trained personnel at various levels of skill and experience are required to understand and analyze the spatial data.

GIS is an important tool for capturing, analysis, dissemination of spatial information and decision making.GIS has catalyzed the way spatial data is perceived by people along with Remote Sensing and GPS. The present workshop aims to bring participants from Government, Private, NGO and Academic institutions towards promoting, popularization, of technology/ outreach activities.

 

Aim

The primary aim of this training is to unveil the advances in GIS through demonstrations and hands-on experience that helps the participants gain an understanding to deal with spatial data using GIS tools for various applications and to promote the use of Geospatial Technologies and its applications among user communities.

The aim of the workshop is to share the information on current capabilities, new applications and innovations based on current and future GIS Missions and to exchange information on GIS Outputs/Services along with users experience on ESRI software and tools.

The Participants

GIS users working in Government/PSUs/Private/NGOs/Academic Institutions with Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Engineering, who wish to broaden their understanding in GIS Technologies can apply through their respective organization/institutions. Candidates must have a prior exposure in using GIS software tools and data for their work.
