Chennai Marathon was planned mainly to create health awareness among chefs and to facilitate better networking of the Chef fraternity. The management, faculty and the students of the Faculty of Hotel Management & Catering Technology of Dr. MGR Educational & Research Institute University, planned, coordinated and supported the Chennai Marathon organized by Indian Federation of Culinary Associations – IFCA, on the 27th September 2009.
A distance of 10 KMs was set for the marathon. Chefs in the industry including the young chefs from the leading hotels participated in the marathon. The event was highly appreciated and there was good media coverage at the Marathon location MARINA – which is a popular location in Chennai. The participation was huge and the event turned out to be very successful in achieving the the purpose for which it was staged.
