The Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W) course at Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institution is an undergraduate program designed for young minds with a social concern, who seek knowledge and train themselves to make a social change, after completing 12th standard. The three-year course is an intensive course with components of both theoretical & classroom knowledge and field practice. The course at Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institution is designed in a way that students are equally exposed to practical knowledge and field level exposure along with theoretical knowledge. Upon the end of the course, the students will be motivated and transitioned into a professional social worker.
Employment:
Employment in civil society organizations, NGOs, Social workers, Medical and Psychiatric social workers, Welfare officers, Research Assistants, Community organizers, Fundraisers, Welfare workers, teachers etc.
Higher Studies:
The students who complete the course will be eligible and qualified to pursue their higher studies in Masters in Social Work, Public Administration, Development studies, Political Science, Law, Journalism, etc.
Field study is an integral and essential component of the BSW curriculum. Students gain at least 300 hours of supervised social work practice in a professional curriculam in order to apply classroom learning in the field.
