Introduction

Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India has established ‘MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years.

MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses.

Major focus of IIC

To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem. Start-up supporting Mechanism in HEIs. Prepare institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework. Establish Function Ecosystem for Scouting Ideas and Pre-incubation of Ideas. Develop better Cognitive Ability for Technology Students.

Functions of IICs

To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion.

Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.

Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.

Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.

Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.

Organize Hackathons, idea competition, mini-challenges etc. with the involvement of industries.

A graduate in any discipline of course (10+2+3)/ (10+2+4)/ (10+3+3) with at least 50% Marks.

Why should you choose MBA – IEV?

This is a 2-year MBA program developed by the National Innovation and Start-up Policy of MHRD’s Innovation Cell and AICTE has an objective to launch new generation entrepreneurs capable of building innovative and simultaneously earning master degree.

This is an action-oriented program to provide opportunities for students to develop their own ventures with a structured mentoring.The program focus is on capstone project presentation and action learning segments to ensure that students get an experience of running their own venture in the campus.

By design, Institute Incubator will deliver the course and students will get access to co-working space and facilities of pre-incubation and incubation to develop innovations and further to start-ups.

Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute University was started in the year 1988 and has a rich tradition of supporting entrepreneurship.The Institute has supports entrepreneurs through the Incubation Centres of the Institute.

Incubation Centre – MGR – AKC

Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam Centre of Excellence in Innovation and Entrepreneurship is the Incubation Centre of the Institute.The Centre is funded under the DST New Generation Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (Dr. MGR DST NewGen IEDC) , Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India.

Faculty of the Incubator are trained in Entrepreneurship Education and have rich experience in mentoring students in converting their ideas into a prototype and Business Plan.From 2017, 25 students’ groups have been funded.Four have been converted into a start-up.Three patents have been published.


We have a mandate to inspire, educate and support student entrepreneurs to create high-value jobs. We collaborate with Wadhwani Foundation to create an entrepreneurial Campus by training teachers, students, mentoring and connecting students with industry networks across the country.

This course is designed for those students who want to be among the 10% who succeed. This course will help them learn how to build a viable venture. A student will start his/her venture creation journey with identifying the problem that he/she wants to solve and end with building an MVP.

The Business Model represented by the Lean Canvas is the "anchor” in this journey. It is a "one page” format that students can use to capture and track their business model and entrepreneurship journey. The student will experiment and go through the basics of all the 9 blocks of the Lean Canvas. In the process, he/she will build an MVP they can take to market at the end of the course and learn to use the globally proven LEAN methodology.


In this course, students will learn about how to achieve product market fit. They will revisit their business model and look for opportunities for growth in their customer segments, in their channels, and in the other blocks of the Business Model and validate it.

Then they will set their traction goal and chase that during the course. They identify channels, enhance their revenue streams and focus on sales. They will learn to work on their financial model and make a pitch deck. In this course, they will build their Sales, Ops, Hiring, and Technology Plan.

Potential show stoppers such as Compliances, Legal and Registrations will be covered as well.
