Introduction

The department of commerce was started functioning in 2014 upgraded as a post Graduate with the introduction of M.com course. The department offers an undergraduate course in General, Accounting & finance, Corporate Secretary ship and computer application.

The curriculum of commerce education in one department is highly application oriented and hence the department follows a multidimensional pedagogy for different program such as Lectures, tutorials, seminars & workshops, Assignments, projects, industry interaction. The department has highly qualified and experience teaching staff.

The faculty of the department has published large number of research papers both in national and international journals. They have also presented papers at various seminars/conferences. The department has organized a number of seminars, Events and conference.

Social outreach and public interaction Program is an integral part of the departmental activities. The department has proved its excellence with a committed staff and enthusiastic students with consistency bring Kudos to the department in the field of academic and extracurricular activities.

Cost Management Accountant

CMA course is a gateway to become a cost management accountant. ICWA course has been renamed to CMA which stands for Cost & Management Accounting. Students opting to undergo a three year undergraduate degree in B.Com (CMA) at Dr. M.G.R. Educational & Research Institute will in addition to being exposed to all subjects in Commerce will also be trained to enhance performance in their professional environment. This course provides you an in-depth knowledge about financial position and to manage the business effectively and efficiently. The relevance of financial business environment and skills in workplace is increasing exponentially. In this current scenario the vital role played by students in managing various accounts related to business. Thus the aim of this degree revolves around equipping the students with the correct acumen and skills to pursue higher studies as well as make them smart and employable.

Cost Accountants are recognized by the government, public and private sectors for placement at various levels in the fields of Accounting and Management functions.

Practice as Cost Accountant. A Cost Accountant may build up his own practice by obtaining a license from the Institute which would enable him to practice as a Cost Accountant, either individually or in partnership with one or more members of the Institute in practice.
