Introduction

The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2003 with the vision of promoting excellence in biotechnology education and research.Since its inception, the department has played a crucial role in nurturing talent, advancing scientific knowledge, and contributing to the development of the biotechnology industry.

The department offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs that provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and techniques of biotechnology. The curriculum is carefully designed to keep up with the rapidly evolving field and equip students with the necessary skills to excel in their careers.

Over the years, the department has attracted highly qualified and experienced faculty members who are dedicated to imparting quality education and mentoring the students. These faculty members have diverse research interests and expertise in various domains of biotechnology, contributing to the growth of knowledge and the application of biotechnology in different sectors.

To support its academic and research endeavours, the department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities. These facilities provide students with hands-on experience and exposure to cutting-edge techniques and instruments, enabling them to gain practical skills that are essential for success in the field of biotechnology.

The Department of Biotechnology also emphasizes the importance of extracurricular activities and research projects. It organizes seminars, workshops, and conferences to facilitate interaction between students, faculty, and industry experts. These events serve as platforms for students to showcase their research findings, exchange ideas, and learn from experts in the field.

Furthermore, the department actively engages in research activities in collaboration with other national and international research organizations. The faculty and students undertake collaborative research projects that address crucial issues in healthcare, agriculture, environment, and industrial applications. The department actively seeks funding and grants to support these research initiatives and provides a conducive environment for innovation and discovery.

With its strong foundation and commitment to excellence, the Department of Biotechnology at Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute continues to produce skilled professionals and researchers who contribute to the growth and development of the biotechnology industry. It nurtures a scientific temperament, promotes ethical practices, and instils a passion for lifelong learning among its students.

Overall, the Department of Biotechnology at Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute is a hub of academic excellence and research innovation, playing a vital role in shaping the future of biotechnology in India.
