Objective of Academic Staff College

Academic Staff Colleges (ASC) were established in Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute (Deemed to be University) for organizing Faculty Development program. The main objective of Academic Staff Colleges is to provide adequate opportunities for the professional development of Faculties.

Functions of Academic Staff College

The functions of ASC are

  • Formulate orientation programme /Refresher courses

  • Identify resource persons in various fields of specializations for conducting the Orientation Programme and Refresher Courses.

  • Organize, Monitor and evaluate the Programme.

  • Organize orientation programme for senior administrators, heads of departments, principals, deans and other decision makers to facilitate reforms in higher education through appropriate modification of the management system at various levels.

  • Provide opportunities for Faculties to exchange experience with their peers and to mutually learn from one another.

Quest for Excellence

  • Provide a forum for serving Faculties to keep abreast of the latest advances in each subject of their interest.

  • Provide opportunities to further widen their knowledge and to pursue research studies.

  • Introduce the Faculties to new methods and innovations in higher Education - delivery, so that the participants in turn can develop their own innovative methods of instruction.

  • Enhancing the Teaching and Research capabilities of Faculties.

  • Conduct enhancement program for Non-Academic Staff.

Engineering and Technology/ Humanities and Sciences/Architecture. Medical/Dental/Physiotherapy/Nursing.

  • Course material (Handout, CDs, etc.,) provided to the participants.

  • 50 Participants registered for each program

  • Feedback on the curricula from the Resource Persons and Participants.

  • Changes in curricula is based on feedback.

Development of Refresher Courses

Refresher Course conducted for the following Departments in the University

Engineering and Technology/ Humanities and Sciences/Architecture. Medical/Dental/Physiotherapy/Nursing.

  • Course material (Handout, CD etc.,) provided to the participants.

  • 50 Participants registered for each program

  • Feedback on the curricula from resource persons and participants.

Interactive Program for Research Scholars

  • Workshops were conducted for Research Scholars from

  • Engineering and Technology/ Humanities and Sciences/Architecture. Medical/Dental/Physiotherapy/Nursing.

  • Course material (Handout, CD etc.,) provided to the participants.

  • 50 Participants registration for each program.

  • Feedback on the curricula from resource persons and participants were taken and changes were implemented.
