5.3.2 Presence of Student Council and its activities for institutional development and student welfare

Response:

The Name of the Council is MGR ASSOCIATION FOR GREAT INNOVATIVE CREATORS –
(MAGIC).

The primary objective of the council is to bring out the association as a representative structure through
which the students get involved in the affairs of the university working in partnership with management,
staff and students for the benefit of the university and students formed to create and share the innovative
ideas. They are the interface between the management, staff and students to work together to identify the
various issues that affect the students directly or indirectly and provide solutions for that.

The MAGIC is structured with 30 department association headed by student secretary and the respective
ten committee members. Each department association secretary coordinates the meeting and plan to
execute the semester events through the templates (F1-F13). The centralized MAGIC office will coordinate
with all department secretaries and review the activities in regular interval.

We run national and international professional society student chapters like IE(India), IEEE, CSI, IGEN
etc. The activities of the chapter help the students to network with the fellow engineers outside the
institution. For example 20 of our students got appreciated by organizers of 32nd IEI Indian Engineering
congress. Each chapter conduct regular membership drive and semester events in line with the future
technological trends. Our students got awards from the chapters for the performance of work towards
technical advancement.

Climate change is the most threat facing in today’s world and at the MGRERI we have an ambition to
support in the environment and be a leader in the sector by tackling climate change. This action we
executed through our MGR Clubs named MGR GREEN9 ENSAVCLUB, MGR NSS Chapter, The
Literary Seminary etc. Each club operated with the structured committee headed with student secretary.
They will organize events, projects, competitions majorly focused to the public awareness and
implementation.

It is believed that students participating in sports and cultural activities perform well in their academics.
This is because they learn discipline and time management from such activities. This helps them to plan
their schedule accordingly and leads to a better learning process. We have sports and cultural committee
headed with student secretary who will manage and organize activities in sports, cultural and competitions.
They will select the college team and represent intercollege level events and own prizes.

Appreciation makes students grow healthy and self-confident .This statement we made in live through
Annual MAGIC AWARDS & Semester MAGIC Appreciation Medals. The academic and non
academic performance of the students will be evaluated through Award form and the Award review
committee. The selected students will receive awards in 8 categories and scholarship in two categories.
