Self Study Report of DR. M.G.R. EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE


          The Academic Council chaired by the Vice Chancellor, is the supreme body. As the Chairperson of this
          body, the Vice-Chancellor ensures the smooth functioning of the University in the development of
          management system, implementation of policies framed and for continuous academic improvements.


          Dr. M.G.R. Educational & Research Institute, (Deemed to be University Decl. u/s Sec 3 of the UGC Act
          1956) has followed a policy of decentralization of academic and administrative tasks since its inception. In
          the organizational hierarchy, statutory bodies like the Board of Management, Planning and Monitoring
          Board, Finance Committee, Advisory Board, Academic Council, Research Advisory Committee, Boards of
          Research, Boards of Studies, Internal Quality Assurance System, Institutional Ethics Committee and other
          committees have also been constituted. All constituent institutions/faculties have always had administrative
          and academic autonomy, although, as specified in the UGC (IDU) regulations, within the framework of the
          institution's rules and bylaws.


          Stakeholders are invited to engage and openly express their opinions in order to reach the vision and
          mission of our University. The University fosters a strong interaction with the Industry through Boards of
          Studies, Academy-Industry Summits, Placements, Industrial Visits and Consultancy Projects. IQAC,
          Parent Teacher Association, Boards of Studies, Industrial Institute Planning Cell, Alumni Cell, Class
          Committee Meetings, and University level Committees constituted with stakeholders participation in
          decision making..
          Good governance and decentralization of academic and administrative approach lead to various national
          and international accreditation of our institution like ISO, NBA, NIRF, IAO, ABET and NABH, NABL,

          6.1.2 Effective leadership is reflected in various institutional practices such as decentralization and
          participative management etc.


          Response:

          Our institute provides operational autonomy to all the academic and administrative committees by
          delegating the authority to work towards decentralized governance system.


          The Vice-Chancellor chairs the Board of Management, Planning and Monitoring Board, Finance
          Committee, Academic Council, and IQAC. Registrar of the University is supported by various
          Additional and Joint Registrars for Academic and Administration purposes. Controller of
          Examinations deals with Examination and Evaluation Reforms. Deans of various Faculties empower
          their team of faculty members by delegating the tasks under various committees.
