enthusiastically. Our University organised two fests namely SPECTRA and RAIN in which all the students
of different years participated in extracurricular activities like singing, dancing, mimicry, role play, etc.
Our university feels pride in celebrating festivals of different faiths which has built a sense of Unity and
harmony in the workplace. By celebrating festivals of different faiths we enable the students and staff to
understand and value other cultures. Our institution does not differentiate students or faculty based on
caste, creed, or religion. This is ensured by equality in the admission of students and employment or
promotion of faculty. The religious customs of many faiths are respected by our institution and separate
prayer halls and deities can be seen in prominent places inside the campus, Hindu temples, and deities, and
Islamic prayer halls in the compassioned hospitals provide adopt for the individual spiritual needs. The
members of our institution adhere to their religious beliefs without any hindrance facilitating the individual
preferences as per religious beliefs.
Our institution adorns a festive look to celebrate Pongal, the state festival of Tamilnadu. Many
competitions such as ‘kolam’ and ‘uriadithal’ exhibit the enthusiasm and teamwork of the faculty and the
students. The kolam competition was completely based on themes about agriculture. Deepavali and
Christmas are celebrated on a grand scale both by the faculty and students. Onam, the state festival of
Kerala is also celebrated with great enthusiasm. The students dressed in traditional Kerala attire and
Pookolams adorn the college lobby and other prime locations. Cultural events are held to mark this
festival. Dussehra, Ganesh Chaturthi,Holi , Navratri are also wonderfully celebrated in our campus. Active
participation by students/staff in the following activities promote harmony and tolerance towards cultural,
regional, linguistic, and socioeconomic diversities.
Optional holidays are availed by employees for unlisted community festivals, based on individual
requirements. Language classes in Tamil, English to overcome communication barriers.
Extensive flood relief actions – Chennai city faced unprecedented flood havoc during 2018 - Food, rice,
and clothes were distributed to thousands of individuals Community services: The community medicine
department in ACSMCH has one urban health training centre (Adayalampattu) and one rural health
training centre (ayapakkam) offers free medical care with drugs at free of cost to all the OPD patients
irrespective of caste, religion, and sex. Regular Health educational/counseling sessions are conducted for
underprivileged in semi-urban and rural areas including schools.
