          books and e-journals through the University Website. Added to this they are also facilitated with
          authenticated free and open source resources like NPTEL, SWAYAM, e-Shodhganga, Free Lecture

          Library management system (LMS) it is an enterprise resource planning system for the library, used to
          track items owned, orders made, bills paid, patrons who have barrowed, document searches on various
          fields like Author, Title, Year of Publication, Publisher and many more.

          An ILS usually comprises a relational database, software to interact with that database, and two graphical
          user interfaces (patrons & staff). Most of the ILS/LMSs separate software functions intro discrete programs
          called modules, each of them integrated with a unified interface. Those are;

                 Acquisitions (ordering, receiving, and invoicing materials).
                 Technical Processing or Cataloguing (classifying and indexing of materials).
                 Circulation (lending materials to patrons and receiving back)
                 Serial Management (Journals).
                 MIS Reports (Backend Reports)
                 OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog/Public User Interface)
                 Administration/Library Management.

          Management System as a “software system that enables users to define, create, maintain and control access
          to the database”.
