Students gain clinical experience from affiliated hospitals such as KanchiKamatchi Child Trust Hospital
for Pediatric specialty, Sundaram Medical Foundation for Medical Surgical Nursing Specialty. Dr.
Fernanda’s Home for Schizophrenia for Psychiatric specialty. For Community teaching learning
experience students are going to our own Community centre at Nayappakam for rural and Nerkundram for
urban as well as students are posted in PHC in both rural and urban areas in different localities.

4.2.2 Describe the adequacy of both outpatients and inpatients in the teaching hospital during the
last five years vis-à-vis the number of students trained and programmes offered (based on HIMS /
EMR) within 500 words.

Response:

Outpatient services are available daily from 8.30 am to 4. 30 pm. The average OPD daily ranges from
3000-4000 patients. The various clinics in ACSMCH are Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Clinical
Hematology, Critical Care, Dental Science, Dermatology & Venereology, Emergency Medicine, General
Medicine, General Surgery, Hepato Pancreato Biliary Surgery, Nephrology, Neuro Surgery, Obstetrics &
Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatrics,
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Psychiatry, Respiratory Medicine, Urology and Vascular Surgery. The
special clinics enlightens the insight of the students into rare diseases and its management. The Hospital
Management Software is installed in 2007. The HIMS is being upgraded at both hospitals with the new
comprehensive software cift health in 2020. Record maintenance of patients is performed by the HIMS for
both inpatient and outpatient. The HIMS data are readily available with the secure password and backups
of the patient details.

The hospital has 17 bed Neonatal intensive care unit and has a range of specialized equipment such as high
frequency oscillatory ventillators, bubble CPAP ventilators and ETCO2 Monitors. The Hospital
management software is Cifthealths installed in the hospital. It has 15 modules.
