Admission into this
prestigious institute is merit-based, while consideration is given
to norms set by the respective statutory councils like the AICTE,
DCI, MCI, Nursing Council and the National Council for Teachers
Education. Admission is open to students from all over the world
who will be selected on the basis of an entrance exam. The
university provides adequate representation to students coming from
the underprivileged sections of society. Physically challenged
students and students who excel in sports are also given
preference.
The University has adopted a flexible credit-based
system, with high standards in the design of its educational
system. The B. Tech degree programmes are divided into eight
semesters, while the Master’s degree programmes are split into four
semesters. Part-time Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses are
also available, Keeping in mind the needs of working professionals
the classes are conducted in the evenings.

PROCEDURES AND REGULATIONS
Application form for all courses can be obtained in person by payment of Rs.500
by cash or a Demand Draft of Rs.550 in favour of Dr. MGR
Educational and Research Institute, payable at Chennai through
post.

Selection of candidates will be based on marks obtained at
qualifying examination, as well as the entrance examination
conducted by the competent body of the university.
PAYMENT OF FEES
The selected candidates will have to pay the prescribed fees as
mentioned in the Admission Form. The fees can be paid by cash or by
Demand Draft in favour of Dr. MGR Educational and Research
Institute, payable at Chennai. Fees once paid is not refundable
under any circumstances.
NRI-SPONSORED STUDENTS
Students sponsored by NRIs will have to produce employment
certificate, passport, visa in original along with photocopies duly
attested by a Gazetted Officer of the Sponsor.
FOREIGN NATIONALS
Candidates should have a valid student visa from the Indian
Embassy. Students will have to surrender passport and visa to the
University Office for verification at the time of admission. All
selected candidates will have to produce a Medical Certificate in
the prescribed format from a qualified registered Medical Officer.
