Facilities

The following laboratories come under the department

the following facilities and equipments are available In these labs
a. circuits&devices lab consists of dual and single poiwer supplies,voltmeters, ammeters,multimeters, audio oscillators,etc
b. linear ics lab consists of analog &digital trainer kits,cro,fixed power supplies, bread board,etc
microprocessor lab consists of 8085,z80 trainer kits,8155 and 8255 interfacing cards,DtoA and AtoD converters,stepper motor,temperature and traffic control interfacing boards, various types of digital ics,etc.
c. instrumentation lab consists of wheatstone,Kelvin,anderson,schering bridge trainer kits,RTD,LVDT,Thermistor and thermocouple trainer kits etc.
d. Process control lab consists of PLC,SCADA,PC based temperature control loop trainer,level control loops and microprocessor based ratio control loop etc.

The process control lab contains 5 pcs for process loops. We are training students in computational techiniques, utilizing the facilities,including computer based process control.We are also helping the students to develop programming skills and use of computers to solve engineering problems and to simulate and analyze engineering systems.

Activities

The department has periodically
conducted seminars and have also invited guest lectures from industries and institutions.
Conducted mock interviews for student placement.
Arranged workshops /conferences on recent trends in instrumentation
Arranged industrial visits to both outstation and local industries.
Contacting industries and arranging for inplant training during vacation.

Schedules

The learning process is divided between class rooms and laboratories in addition to interaction supported by study tours and visits .
The number of lecture hour per subject is 45.In addition ,tutorial,contact and case studies get 20 hours per subject.the students are given four assignments and three class tests.the laboratories is given minimum 100 hours per semester and three hours per week is devoted for seminars.

Many of the students are doing MS.Degree in top rankled universities like CLEMSON,UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI,TENNESSEE TECH,PENN STATE, UNIVESITY OF CALIFORNIA,WAYNE STATE, UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON etc..
Approximately 10 students are leaving abroad every year.

A highly proficient placement cell is in progress in the department ,passed out students are placed with companies.
