About the event:

The Summer School Program organized by Department of Civil Engineering, Dr.M.G.R Educational and Research Institute, in association with the Office of International Relations in an attempt to organize Intercontinental Summer School Program 2019. As we are keen to spread the knowledge on various aspects of Civil Engineering and also to build a strong bonding between Inter-Continents. We would like to initiate the Program in Our university premises by welcoming you all to grace this event together.

Objective:

The main objective of the Summer School Program is to provide a platform for Students discussing about the various concepts in Civil Engineering Software and International Student Exchange and Staff Exchange. Program focuses on various areas of Software like Etabs and Primavera. Participants will have an opportunity to share their knowledge, views and research findings and build networks with professionals of similar interests.

Guidelines of the Event:

Our guideline advises you on a new platform of social and Educational environment. You will be learning about daily life, infrastructures, traditions and safety regulations in Chennai. We ensure your safety and guide you in Chennai. Always remember to follow the rules and traditions of our country and protect yourself from unnecessary problems. We hope that you will find this guideline useful once you are in Chennai as long as you feel prepared and safe to enjoy your travel.

Highlights of the event:

This Summer School Program features an exceptional line-up of invited International students and International Staffs where they could exchange their thoughts in this session providing an ideal mix of Theory and Practical Session in Civil engineering Field.

Target Audience:
International Students and Staffs
Courses Content :

ETABS

The course introduces the basics of analyzing the structures using modern techniques. ETABSis an engineering software product that caters to multi-story building analysis and design.

ETABS offers unmatched 3D object-based modeling and visualization tools, blazingly fast linear and nonlinear analytical power, sophisticated and comprehensive design capabilities for a wide-range of materials, and insightful graphic displays, reports, and schematic drawings that allow users to quickly and easily decipher and understand analysis and design results.

Students do not only acquire a profound professional and methodical education but also the communication skills and cross-cultural experience necessary for future international management posts. The ETABS program contains not only general analyzing conception, but also its problems, solutions, ways to use and comparison of main software available today, and real experience of using ETABS – world-leading structural analysis and designing platform, allowing create and manage projects faster and more economically.

PRIMAVERA

The course mainly focuses on Project Planning, Control, monitoring and Reporting. Primavera is the leading powerful tool for global project planning. Primavera is used by all Engineers who are in the field of Project Management.

Primavera produces a Complete cloud-based solution, Plan, schedule, and control large-scale programs and individual projects. It also helps to Select the right strategic mix of projects, Monitor and visualize project performance versus plan, Integrate with financial management and human capital management systems.

Students will be trained in various aspects of scheduling such as getting output for Resources like Material, Machinery and Manpower on daily, weekly and monthly basis. Also, Forecasting the completion time, other lags in the scheduling and to know the earliest possible completion time of the project.

REHABILITATION OF STRUCTURES

The main purpose of the course is to teach the basic concepts of Rehabilitation, retrofitting, Repairs in the structures and Evaluation of existing structures: strength, durability, destructive and non-destructive testing, damaged structures.

Retrofitin structures is done to increase the survivability functionality. Also it is the process of addition of new features to older buildings, heritage structures, bridges etc.

The students will be taught about basics of service life of the structures that is dependent on the quality, workmanship of the construction and various other factors including materials, components, etc. Also the program focuses on early deterioration signs due to reasons like bad workmanship, lower degree of adherence to the specification of materials and the general guidelines of construction procedures.

PREFABRICATED STRUCTURES

The main purpose of the course is to acquaint students with the principal trends of prefabricated structures. The course introduces the technical design and assembling of the prefabricated structures.

Prefabrication is the modern evolution of the construction industry. It paved way for time efficient and cost-efficient construction technology leading to sophisticated human lifestyle.

In this session students will be trained in the various concepts of prefabricated structures like the methods of construction which includes assembling components of a structure in a manufacturing or production site, transporting complete assemblies or partial assemblies to the site where the structure is to be located. Also, the session caters ideas of combination of good design with modern high-performance components and quality-controlled manufacturing procedures.

EFFECTS OF GREEN BUILDINGS

The session mainly emphasizes on the effects of green buildings in our modern emerging world. It is necessary to know about the usage of green buildings in order develop a better environment for future generation.

Green buildings generally provide some of the most effective means to achieving a range of global goals, such as addressing climate change, creating sustainable and thriving communities, and driving economic growth.

Students will be taught about the most important types of benefits green buildings offer to our climate and the natural environment. Also, the techniques by which the Green buildings reduce or eliminate negative impacts on the environment, by using less water, energy or natural resources.
