Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission – Sanction of Project under DDU-GKY programme
The Government of India has set an ambitious target for providing skill training to 500 million of its youth by 2022, which is in line with the estimated demand for skilled manpower over the next decade under theDDU-GKY [Deen Dhayal Upadhyaya Grameem Kousalya Yojana] through the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). The Government of Tamil Nadu is implementing a special scheme called Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission from the year 2012-13. The Mission activities are funded by Government of India and the State Government in the ratio of 60:40.
The objectives of TNSRLM is to build strong and vibrant institutional platforms of the poor in the rural areas which enable them to increase their household incomes through livelihood enhancements and access to financial and other services. Under this scheme the target group comprises of poor and vulnerable section of the community. As PIA, Dr. M. G. R. Educational and Research Institute is sanctioned an amount of 8.83 Crores for facilitating the development of rural youth.

Dr. E. Sheeba Percis Ph.D., Professor, Dept. of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Addl. Dean [Engineering and Technology] is designated as Project Head, DDU-GKY, TNSRLM. She has 16 years of experience in the field of teaching and under her leadership the University has witnessed significant scale-ups in various verticals like academics, research and other professional activities. She is a senior member of IEEE, world’s No.1 Professional Society. She has published articles in various national and international journals and also authored few books.
She has the ability to lead and work in a team, good planning and multi-tasking skills. She is an effective interface between the Head Office and the field team and co-ordinate for best outcomes. She possesses strong ability to develop work plans, set deadlines, work well with minimal supervision, prioritize assignments, and organize multiple projects.
