Cyber Forensics Lab
Computer forensics, also known as digital forensics, is a practice that examines digital evidence and recovers data to be used in a civil or criminal legal proceedings. The process of investigating digital evidence must be conducted in a forensically sound manner. Computer forensics also provides a means for "e-discovery" or "electronic discovery" which allows for disclosure of the digital evidence for parties involved in litigation. Indications of data theft, employee theft, employee compliance and policy violation, embezzlement, fraud, and other cybercrimes can be uncovered during a computer forensic examination.
This laboratory has a variety of tools which enable the students to be proficient in various forensic tools and usage of tools for disk imaging and recovery processes. Knowledge of these tools will enrich the students and they will be able to design security procedures and policies and in the long run, can establish responsibility and accountability for information security in organizations.
